The following text has nothing to do with the service of FORMOSA ART and cannot be influenced by us.
If you import goods for the first time you should read the following text carefully.
1. Import sales tax
When you buy something, the price already includes the value added tax. This is not the case with imports. Here, the import VAT is paid only at the time of import. The amount of import sales tax is usually the same as the VAT rate. In some countries, additional fees are charged, but they are usually not very high.
For import VAT, it is important to know which of the following groups you belong to:
a) Business people who issue VAT invoices to their customers.
b) Private individuals who do not issue invoices.
2. Customs duty
The amount of customs duty depends on the customs tariff number. This number is represented as HS code (Harmonized System), a kind of item number for customs.
We have found the HS code for importing Feng Shui compasses is only about 0.7% of the value of goods in most countries. However, this may differ in your country. You can contact your country's customs office to determine if this percentage applies to you. You can find our HS code in your quote.
3. Procedure
This all sounds very complicated, but it is not for you - as our customer. We have been working with DHL EXPRESS for years and DHL will do the customs clearance for you during the shipment. DHL will contact you and tell you the amount for import VAT and customs. This is regardless of whether you have a business or service or if you are an individual. Usually, customers will transfer this amount via PayPal to keep the process as fast and smooth as possible.
4. EORI number
If you live in Europe and intend to import goods from abroad frequently, we recommend that you apply for a free EORI number in your country. This usually only takes 1-2 days. This is a type of customer number for customs that greatly simplifies customs clearance. You should be able to easily find out how and where to apply for this EORI number via Google.
Please note that if you are importing only one product, you are considered a private individual and do not need an EORI number.
If you import more than one product, you are automatically considered an importer and an EORI number is mandatory.
